The site will not be age restricted because it is an impossibility to control.  Hateful language will not be tolerated (racist, denigrating, intolerant).  This is subjective of course but unavoidably so.  I will not forbid swearing across the board because it is in effect a part of language, however, if inappropriate, it will beget a warning.  If you were to post, "Damn that was brutal", there won't be a public outcry.  If swears pepper your language constantly, then that would be undesirable.  The consideration here is the broader audience and each member's ability, if not responsibility, to maintain a site filled with good people.  We want to keep good members, not drive them out.  The path of loose language usually leads to loose attitudes in other important areas.

There will be appropriate forum sections for clearly off topic subjects that would beget links or discussion to other game sites and such.  I'm not going to prevent discussion about competing games and such if that's your question.  In fact I plan to make specific forums for such discussion.

In short, I ask that you don't hack the site, don't swear, and don't come to the site specifically to promote another site, product, etc.

Damn, those rules are brutal...

I would guess that areas would be the best bet for determining a winner... Or maybe the player receiving the most reinforcements (which would be a combination of owning the most areas, plus whatever regions they own too)...

Either way, good idea.

Also of note is that some maps produce longer games, specifically those maps with either more areas or no region bonuses... Like that Halloween map can take forever.

Feature Idea - Game Turn Limit

One of the many things I strive for at Strategy Gamers is to encourage active play.  I find that games that linger may sometimes diminish the enjoyment.  I've seen games last years.  Therefore, in addition to already in-place features along these lines, I am considering adding a new feature used to limit how long a game may last.  This would allow game creators to use the default option of unlimited number of game turns, or set a limit from a reasonable selection such as 10, 20, 30,..100 game turns.  I included the lower numbers (10-30) because this may be very useful for tournament games.  Most games do tend to last around 15-25 turns for smaller sized games, and double that for larger games (5 > players).  A limit does a couple of things.  It affects game play style as the limit forces different strategies in order to effectively "win" within a time frame.  Two, it reminds players that each turn is important and deserves attention.

Declaring a winner.  Any player already out of the game would maintain their placement.  A means to determine winner/placement of the remaining players is needed.  Counting map areas would seem the straight forward method given the goal is to control the entire map.  Perhaps taking region bonuses and standing armies into account may also be worth exploring.  I'm open to suggestions and feedback on this game option's design.

Strategy Gamers will be adding a new featured named Overlapping Regions.  It will not appear as an option on the Create Game page but rather is tied to individual maps.  This feature would allow, for example, Iceland to be part of Europe and North America at the same time.  I like the idea of this feature because it changes the dynamic a bit by having players vie for the same areas in order to control distinct regions.  Rather than players simply coalescing their forces to gain an region and protect it at the borders, those same borders may be equally desired parts of another players targeted region.  I expect that this will make game play more aggressive.

The first map to be outfitted with overlapping regions is the new Spring map. The semi-circle portions of the flower overlap and make a good test case.

Uh, hope I saw this and joined before I fell off the face of the Earth for a bit, but I don't think so.

Pro, I will join the next wimpy sounding game you like, just for missing your "snowflake dance" game.  I'm sorry I missed it.  Did you choose pink as your color?

Thanks.  My brand of humor is rich and complex like a fine Merlot, and often takes a while to fully digest like the fat t-bone you wash down with the Merlot.  And frequently involves the end process of said feast.
